The National League board received feed back from 65 of the 68 clubs in the 3 national league divisions. It is understood that the majority of clubs fed back they were not supportive of the playoffs though the majority of clubs in playoff positions indicated they were in favour.

The National League board have decided to postpone the decision of whether playoffs can take place and whether any new votes will be required to decide the outcome of the season until the English Football League (EFL) have decided the outcome of their leagues. There is still the distinct possibility that the EFL will end the season without no promotion and relegation meaning that promotion from the National League would be unlikely other than perhaps for one side to replace expelled Bury FC.

The decision on playoffs and ending of the season is now thought to be applied across all 3 divisions and the initial thought that the National League could have a different outcome to that of the National League North and South now seems unlikely.

For playoffs to go ahead if they cannot be completed before the end of May 2020 then the National League will need to apply to the FA for approval for the season to be extended.

Meanwhile National League sides have started to announce retained lists and are commencing ground works for the new season when ever that may be.
